The Magnavox GRC-206(V) provides . . .
HF/SSB, VHF/FM, VHF/AM, and UHF/AM communications. Components
and elements of the GRC-206 have been designed with the end product
in mind resulting in major improvements over predecessor equipments
such as the GRC-153 (MRC-107) and the GRC-155 (MRC-108).
Remote control of the GRC-206 is accomplished via a fiber optic cable at distances up to 2 miles (3.3 km). The use of fiber optics makes this long link immune to noise and free from radiated energy. All functions of all radios are remoted (ie; frequency, channel, mode, key (PTT), audio in, and audio out),
Control of the GRC-206 is microcomputer based providing great flexibility in control options. Either one or two operators are permissible using a common or dual controls. For dual operator applications, the microcomputer monitors usage, automatically resolves operator conflicts, and provides alarm feedback when conflicts do occur. Control of the individual radios is possible from a local control, from a remote control or in any combination or from the front panels of the radios.
The GRC-206 has been specifically designed for installation in M-151 Utility Vehicles (Jeeps) and M-113 Armored Personnel Carriers (APC's). The resultant package is also optimum for installation in other vehicles such as the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV).
The GRC-206(V)1 includes provisions for installation of user supplied Security Devices. Since the GRC-206(V)2 does not Include these provisions, space is available for other user selected components. The GRC-206(V)3 is identical to the (V)1 except that ECCM is provided within the UHF Radio Set.
Nomenclatured items contain a specific complement of accessories which may not be optimum for some users. Specific equipment complement and available accessories are set forth in "Equipment Complement for GRC-206, PRC-113, TRC-176 and VRC-83 Radio Sets".
