Target Corporation's Interrogator Set UPX-25N is a shipboard interrogator set providing full AIMS MARK XII/SI F capabilities. The set is comprised of the following major assemblies housed in a specially designed rack assembly:
The major assemblies listed above are proven U.S. military equipments currently being used in U.S. and foreign naval shipboard IFF systems. These major assemblies and other related assemblies are housed in a compact, drip proof rack assembly to form Target Corporation's UPX-25N Interrogator Set. The UPX-25N meets stringent U.S. military standards and specifications for temperature, humidity, shock, vibration, and RFI. The drip proof case contains three internal fans which provide equipment cooling by drawing cool air through the lower front screen and exhausting warm air out the top of the equipment rack.
The Target Corporation UPX-25N is capable of interrogating transponder-equipped military or civil aircraft and military ships. Modes 1, 2, 3/A, 4 and C can be challenged on an interlaced basis, with a power level of at least 2kW at 1020 M Hz. The Target Corporation UPX-25N is compatible with externally applied modes of operation. ISLS (Interrogation Side Lobe Suppression) is employed, normally using either the sum-and-omni or sumand-difference approach. Replies are received on 1090 MHz by a receiver with a sensitivity of -84 dBm. Non-synchronous replies, called "fruit", are removed and processed for display.
The UPX-25N can be jumpered to accept mode enables from a decoder or external system in either a multiplexed or unmultiplexed format. Video outputs are available in both a composite and separated format. Mode Ident tags and Reset tags are available on a single line, or may be applied to composite video by the appropriate jumpering.
A large degree of flexibility in installation is provided to permit interface with many shipboard radarsthrough selection of the appropriate rear panel jacks. Installations utilize between five and twelve of these jacks, depending upon complexity.
